Highlights of Valletta Accessible Shore Excursion
This 4 hour accessible shore excursion of Valletta includes wheelchair accessible transportation and visits the highlights of Valletta and Mdina. Your guide and driver will meet you just outside the cruise terminal in a wheelchair accessible van with a lift. At the end of the excursion, you may choose to finish with a meal at an accessible restaurant nearby the cruise terminal and make your own way back to the ship. Valletta, the capital of Malta, is an impressive, yet compact, well-preserved 16th century city. The city itself was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1980, and boasts 320 historical monuments in an area of just half a square kilometer! You’ll visit the city’s most magnificent architectural sites, including St. John’s Co-Cathedral, a 16th century Baroque cathedral built by the Knights of Malta, and the Grandmaster’s Palace, where you’ll learn about the history and government of this beautiful city. You won’t be disappointed when you visit nearby city of Mdina (the old capital of Malta), the next stop on your tour. This fantastic, ancient walled city is known as the “Silent City” because no cars are allowed inside the city walls! Enjoy a peaceful stroll along the narrow pedestrian streets of this quiet little town with a population of less than 300 people. After you’ve completed your Valletta accessible shore excursion, your guide and driver will take you back to the city where you have the option to stop for lunch (price not included) in an accessible restaurant before returning to your cruise ship! Note: Tours are available 7 days a week; however, please note that St. John’s Co-Cathedral is not open on Sundays or public holidays, and the Grandmaster’s Palace is closed during official events (this does not happen often).
