Sage Traveling provides the ultimate accessible Venice travel experience. We have performed first-hand research of hotels throughout Venice to evaluate their accessibility. This includes not only the accessibility inside the hotel but also wheelchair accessible routes to the vaporetto docks

Most of our hotels are located in large accessible neighborhoods with numerous options for wheelchair accessible restaurants that can be reached without needing to go over any bridges. Pictures and descriptions of our recommended hotels are found at the links below.

Hotels in St. Mark’s Neighborhood

St. Mark’s Neighborhood contains the San Marco Basilica, the Doge’s Palace, and the Correr Museum. It is the most popular neighborhood for tourists. When cruise excursions only have a few hours to spend in Venice, this is where they come.

Wheelchair Accessible Hotel in Venice San Marco

This hotel has the most convenient location of all the Venice accessible hotels for disabled travelers. It is located a few blocks away from the main San Marco vaparetto stop, and the San Marco Basilica and the Doge’s Palace can be reached from this hotel without having to go up or down steps. The hotel restaurant (shown in the picture on the left) overlooks the Grand Canal and is a great place to have breakfast, dinner, or a relaxing drink after a great day visiting Venice.

Venice Disabled Hotel with 5 Star Accessibility

This hotel is located in the back of the St. Mark’s neighborhood away from the masses of tourists. It is an excellent option for disabled guests who want to be in a convenient location without too many tourists to take away from the Venetian experience. Each of these large accessible hotel rooms has a roll-in shower with a chair attached to the wall (shown in the photo on the left).

Hotels on the Grand Canal

The #1 and #2 vaporetto routes run down the length of the canal from the St. Mark’s Neighborhood to the train station and finishing at the Piazzale Roma commuter neighborhood. The hotels below are listed in order of proximity to St. Mark’s Square with the first one only a couple vaporetto stops away from St. Mark’s Square.

Venice Disabled Hotel with Adjoining Rooms

This 4 star hotel is one of the easiest for disabled guests to reach from the airport. The wheelchair accessible Alilaguna boats travel from Venice’s Marco Polo airport to the Zaterre dock. There are no bridges between the Zaterre dock and this hotel. This disabled hotel in Venice is excellent for families because both of the disabled rooms connect to other rooms.

Venice Wheelchair Accessible Hotel Rooms

This disabled hotel is the only one of our recommended hotels not located on the Grand Canal or in St. Mark’s Neighborhood. While that means it takes an extra 20 minutes to get to the popular sightseeing areas in Venice, it also means that this area has no large crowds of tourists. The hotel has 2 disabled rooms with roll-in showers. There are numerous accessible restaurants located in a piazza 500 meters away.

You can have a wheelchair accessible water taxi service pick you up at the train station, airport, or cruise dock to transport you to your hotel.  Private wheelchair accessible guided tours that avoids all of the Venice bridges are available for you to choose from.
