Classic Milan Accessible Walking Tour
This Classic Milan Accessible Walking Tour takes you through some of the most famous and most beautiful Milan attractions that you can see in three hours. Customized for Sage Traveling clients, this tour will give you an in-depth look at one of the largest cathedrals in the world, the Duomo, which took over six centuries to complete! You will also get a look inside fascinating Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II.
Start your day by meeting your tour guide outside the Milan Duomo or your centrally located accessible Milan hotel. From here, you will enter the glorious Cathedral for a time of exploration. The Duomo is the monument symbol of Milan and one of the most famous and complex Gothic constructions of the world. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan and it is the largest church in Italy! Inside the Cathedral, you will use an elevator to reach the roof-top where an accessible path will allow you to soak in the beautiful architecture and panoramic views.
Next, you’ll follow an accessible route to the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s oldest shopping malls. Housed within a four-story double arcade in central Milan, the Galleria is named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first King of the Kingdom of Italy. Escorted by your tour guide, you will enjoy the energized atmosphere in this magnificent building full of top designer boutiques. The breathtaking structure consists of two glass-vaulted arcades intersecting in an octagon covering the street connecting Piazza del Duomo and Piazza della Scala. On the ground of the central octagonal, there are four mosaics portraying the “coat of arms” of the three capitals of the Kingdom of Italy (Turin, Florence and Rome) plus Milan’s. Tradition says that if a person spins around three times with a heel on the testicles of the bull from Turin this will bring luck.
