Essential Left Bank and Notre Dame Accessible Tour
Our hearts go out to the people of Paris. While they assess the damage to the Notre Dame Cathedral, the interior visit has been replaced with a visit to the Shakespeare Company.
This accessible tour of the Left bank and Notre Dame is a perfect way to experience the atmosphere, sites and history of the vibrant and fascinating Latin Quarter. The tour combines a private walking tour with a visit to the famous Shakespeare and Company, the famed book dent where Hemingway, Fitzgerald and many others were born to literature. You will also get a chance to see the outside of the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral.
Medieval Paris was centered around the Latin Quarter area, and this Paris accessible walking tour brings you hundreds of years into the past. The tour starts by Luxemburg Gardens, situated on the border between St. Germain-des-Pres and the Latin Quarter, and ends by the one of the most important structures in Paris, the 800 year old Notre Dame Cathedral.
During the tour, your friendly private guide will narrate about the history of the area and show you several famous Parisian highlights, including the famous Sorbonne University, the picturesque Place de la Sorbonne square and the iconic Pantheon. Have your camera ready to capture beautiful views of the Seine River as well! All parts of this Paris wheelchair tour route have been proven to meet the needs of disabled visitors.
Included in this tour is also an interior visit to the famous Shakespeare and Company, the famed book dent where Hemingway, Scott Fitzgerald and many others were born to literature. As you make your way inside, you will experience the magic of the place that is covered with books from top to bottom, as well as hopeful writers of tomorrow. Learn about the history of the place as you admire the beautiful setting. Please note that the back and top parts of the store is not accessible for wheelchair users and will be avoided during this tour.

Accessibility Description
I gave the Left Bank and Notre Dame Accessible Guided Tour a 4 Star Sage Accessibility Rating (our highest rating for a walking our) because it involves a step-free tour route and a convenient wheelchair lift inside the Notre Dame. The tour route is shorter than other accessible walking tours and only lasts 1.9 km (approx. 1 mile).
The tour route consists of fairly flat ground and has been designed to avoid cobblestones as much as possible. It avoids all curbs by using sidewalk ramps. There will also be accessible bathrooms available along the tour route.
On this accessible Paris walking tour you will experience the Latin Quarter where Picasso, Hemingway, Rimbaud and countless others found so much of their inspiration: Among other things, you will pass by the beautiful Panthéon (shown in the photo on the left).
The relatively short and fully wheelchair accessible route that the Essential Left Bank and Notre Dame Accessible Tour uses is shown on the map below. The total walking distance is calculated to be approximately 1 mile of curb free, step free and wheelchair friendly routes. It’s an easy way to see so much of Paris!
