During this memorable Private Accessible Munich and Beyond Guided Tour, you’ll get to experience some of the most incredible venues in Munich and the surrounding areas; the spectacular Konigplatz, the historic Dachau and the fascinating Nymphenburg Palace and Garden. The tour isa combination of a driving tour and a walking / rolling tour, providing time to sit back and relax as well as plenty of opportunities to get out of the accessible van and experience the attractions firsthand.
Your day begins with your private guide and accessible vehicle meeting you at your accessible Munich hotel before heading out to the first stop of the day,Konigsplatz square. This breathtaking, Neo-classic 19th century inspired site is the center the Munich’s cultural life. The surrounding area around Konigsplatz now houses the Kunstareal, Munich’s esteemed gallery and museum quarter.
From Konigsplatz, your wheelchair friendly Munich adventure continues with a drive to Dachau, where one of the first German Nazi concentration camps is located. The camp was originally made to hold political prisoners but later expanded to include Jews, Germans, Austrians and other foreign criminals. Your private tour guide will share fascinating anecdotes and history that will provide you with an understanding of the different sites of Dachau, as well as background information about the rise of the Nazi party in Germany.
In the concentration camp, you’ll learn about the events that took place here as well as the long, devastating history of the camp. Inside the Memorial Site and the exhibition, your guide will narrate you through the arrival procedure, the routine of the camp, show the historic sites and give you quotes of former inmates. If you want to, you’ll have an opportunity to see the crematorium.
Your last stop of the day is the beautiful Nymphenburg Palace and Gardens. Here, you’ll visit the former royal apartments, see the spectacular ball room with a ceiling fresco by John Baptist Zimmermann, and browse through the spectacular art gallery of the 36 beautiful women of 19th century Munich. Accessibility Description:
I gave the Private Accessible Munich and Beyond Driving Tour a 4 Star Sage Accessibility Rating because a wheelchair accessible van will take you from each of the stops along the tour, and the waling portions of the tour are step-free. It did not get a higher accessibility rating because most of the grounds at the concentration camp are unpaved, and access in certain areas may be limited for wheelchairs.
Your transportation on this wheelchair accessible Munich driving tour will be a clean accessible van with lift.
Much of the grounds at the Dachau concentration camp are covered in gravel (shown on the left) which may be difficult for some wheelchair users. During this accessible tour, you will use the most wheelchair-friendly routes to visit the location.
The route is approximately 500 meters long with smooth, flat surfaces (see photo on the left). The tour uses a special side entrance with a wheelchair ramp to enter the Dachau museum (photo on the right).
The crematorium is located in the back left of the property. If the 500 meters to reach it is too far for you, your guide can explain it from afar instead. On the visit to the crematorium, you will use a ramp to enter the building (shown on the left). There are small lips in between the rooms…a photo of them is shown on the right.
At the Nymphenburg Palace, your tour guide will lead you using a ramped side entrance to avoid the steps at the main entrance (shown below on the left). Accessible restrooms are available during the tour (shown below on the right)
The Nymphenburg Gardens expand over a large area, however, you don’t need to walk/roll through the entire gardens and can view the parts you are comfortable visiting.
