Salzburg Accessible Travel Packages
On the border of Germany, with views of the Eastern Alps, you’ll find the Austrian town of Salzburg – one of my favorite accessible destinations in Europe. Divided by the Salzach River, with the Old City (Altstadt) on its left and New City (Neustadt) on the right, Salzburg offers wheelchair users, mobility scooter users, and travelers with other disabilities several days of world-class accessible attractions.
Salzburg is the home to several of the famous Sound of Music sites (both from the movie and the real historical sites). Exploring the iconic sites will have you singing do-re-mi.
Only a quick drive from Salzburg, you will find the UNESCO lake-side village of Hallstatt. This ancient salt mine village has a truly unique culture and history, and offers a breath-taking mountain setting as well. You can visit for the day or combine your Salzburg stay with a night in Hallstatt.
For WWII history enthusiasts, the nearby Hitler’s “Eagles Nest” mountain hideaway can also be visited by disabled visitors during a day trip from Salzburg.
