Top 5 Must-See Accessible Scenic Views

Sometimes the best moments during your vacations are those moments when you get to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view! During my travels, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many of Europe’s most awe-inspiring sites– and I’d like to share with you my top 5 must-see accessible scenic views that you can experience on your next accessible European vacation! 

1. Florence‘s Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset. Florence is one of my absolute favorite cities in Europe! It’s smaller than Rome, but full of great accessible attractions. After spending the day visiting accessible sites like the Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, and Accademia, take a bottle of wine up to Piazzale Michelangelo to watch the sunset over the entire city! 

Sage Tip: Piazzale Michelangelo is on the top of a large hill overlooking Florence (which is why it’s the best view in the city!). Parking is limited, so it’s best to have a driver drop you off there.

2. Rialto Bridge in Venice. This iconic bridge on Venice’s Grand Canal is a picturesque symbol of the city. It’s also the oldest of the four bridges on the Grand Canal, and the view can be enjoyed from accessible outdoor seating at restaurants both upriver and downriver on the Rialto side. 

3. Sunset in Santorini. Santorini is where I proposed to my wife Tiffany, so it’s obviously one of my favorite destinations! Watching the sunset here is truly breathtaking. 

Sage Tip: Skip the crowds in the popular town of Oia. Instead, go for a private sunset experience at the lighthouse at the opposite end of the island!

4. Bruges canals at night. This quaint little town is like a smaller, Belgian version of Venice. Its numerous charming canals, narrow, winding cobblestone streets, and medieval Gothic architecture make for fantastic views wherever you look. Pick a spot along the canal at a café with accessible outdoor seating to enjoy the nighttime views and the quiet company of the canal swans!

Sage Tip: Although there’s really no such thing as a “bad view” in Bruges, check out the Dijver canal on Rozenhoedkaai street– one of the most photographed spots in the city. Take your camera! 

5. Paris from the river at night. There’s nothing quite like Paris at night! One experience I ALWAYS recommend is an accessible dinner cruise or accessible sightseeing cruise on the Seine. With the light from the city reflecting off the water at night, you have a unique view of the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Pont Neuf, the Louvre and more!
