Wheelchair Accessible Water Taxis in Venice

Wheelchair accessible water taxis in Venice comfortably transport disabled passengers between the Venice cruise terminal, the Venice airport, and the Venice Santa Lucia train station.

Venice wheelchair accessible water taxis have a hydraulic lift where most of the normal water taxis have steps. The boat drivers are also trained to assist passengers with disabilities.

A maximum of 6 passengers can fit on the boats (including room for luggage).

Accessible water taxi reservations must be made in advance. Accessible water taxi tours and accessible water taxi cruise excursions are also available.

Traditional water taxis in Venice have steps to get in and out of them (shown in the photo on the left). Accessible water taxis in Venice have a wheelchair lift to bring disabled passengers from the boat level up to the dock level (shown in the photo on the right):

The accessible Venice water taxis travel much faster than the vaparetto boats, and they take you directly where you want to go without stopping at vaparetto stops along the way.

Vaporetto boats can not go along the small canals in Venice. The Venice wheelchair accessible water taxis can fit on almost every canal which means you don’t have to walk/roll as far to your destination.

A water taxi staff member will securely tie the boat to the dock (shown in the photo on the left). If you are arriving at a dock that is not level with the boat, they can help carry you off the boat (shown in the photo on the right). They can also assist you off the small platform lift into the covered area in the back of the boat.

Photos of the disabled lift in operation are below. Staff can assist disabled passengers including assistance with luggage. The lift can only handle 150 kg (330 lbs). Heavy individuals in heavy wheelchairs should contact us for additional options.

This carrying chair is used to transport disabled Venice residents up and down stairs. It will probably be unnecessary for visitors…especially if you book a fully accessible Venice hotel.

Weather conditions can cause changes in the transportation services. There are no refunds if higher tides make some bridges impassable causing changes in pick-up and drop-off locations.

Cancellation policy: 90% refund with at least 7 days notice, 50% refund with at least 4 days notice, no refund with less than 4 days notice. Tours run rain or shine.
